At Missouri Eye Institute, we’ve been blessed to have earned the loyalty and support of thousands of residents of Southwest Missouri. Since 1988, we’ve built quite a rich network of friends, clients, partners and supporters and we’re thrilled to continue our mission to improve the quality of life of those we serve.
When we were contacted late last year by the James River Assembly Women’s Conference for a donation for a special member of their congregation, we considered the request like any other; every request for support is reviewed to determine if it falls within our mission and guidelines of giving. Many deserving causes and organizations operate in Southwest Missouri and we help them when and where we can according to policy.
When I heard about James River’s request for the donation of LASIK surgery, I was personally excited to assist by performing the procedure. The patient’s inspiring story now has been told by KY3. See “Springfield MO woman’s dreams come true.” On behalf of Missouri Eye, I’m thrilled we could play such a key role in bringing this Springfield resident a little joy and peace of mind.
Upon taking the Hippocratic oath, all doctors are committed to being stewards of good health. Based on the tenants of the oath, Missouri Eye Institute’s mission is to serve those in need; we remind ourselves daily that we have “special obligations to all … fellow human beings.”
My partner, Board-Certified Ophthalmologist Dr. Chuck Jansen, personally has a passion for international missions. Working with the ministry of health of East Africa, Dr. Jansen has worked to bring modern technologies to the country. He assisted in developing specialty clinics and a surgical hospital in Maswa, Tanzania, as well as an eye surgery training program that is actively teaching African and missionary doctors to perform modern cataract surgery.
Thank you, Southwest Missouri, for your support and allowing us to serve not only you and your loved ones, but serve people in need across the globe.
