James E. Bureman, O.D.

Dr. Bureman is a Doctor of Optometry, who is highly trained in the diagnosis and management of many eye diseases, injuries, and post-surgical care.
In 1976 he received his B.A. in Biology with honors from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, His Doctorate Degree is from Illinois College of Optometry where in 1980 he again graduated with honors. While in optometry school, Dr. Bureman was a recipient of the prestigious Health Professions Scholarship Award.


In 1992 Dr. Bureman was appointed to the Missouri State Board of Optometry, one of only five such doctors in the state. He is also a member of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, a position which requires him to test the clinical skills of other optometrists. In 2000, Dr. Bureman was chosen for the "Optometrist of the Year Award" by the Missouri Optometric Association. He is listed as one of America's top Optometrists by Consumer's Research Council of America for 2002-2003. Dr. Bureman holds the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Missouri Army National Guard Medical Services Corps.


Dr. Bureman helps coordinate eye care for our patients by consulting with area optometrists. This allows patients to have quality, cost effective and convenient primary eye care.
