After Blepharoplasty By Carol Bangle
Two months ago I had eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). The surgery was absolutely painless. I was in surgery a total of one and a half hours, which included pre-op and post-op. I was given prescription to fill for pain, but I chose not to have it filled. I was sent home with ice pack, which I used periodically for several days. I was bruised, but that mostly went away within a week. Because I had the lower lids done there was more bruising and the stitches were slower to fade, than if I would have only had the upper lids operated. Tylenol two different times was all I needed toward off the discomfort.
I went shopping the day after surgery and felt fine. I could have returned to work that day, but I didn’t want to scare my co-workers. I looked like Halloween and it was only August.
I couldn’t begin to tell you how much better I see. It makes me wonder why I didn’t have it done ten years ago. There have been many compliments about how much better my eyes look. I even had a teen-age boy tell me I had pretty eyes. He was very drawn to my teen age granddaughter and was trying to get to her through her granny. That’s ok. At my age I will take compliments however they come.
Since surgery, my husband of 45 years has told me he always thought my eyes were blue, but since my surgery he can tell my eyes are green. Isn’t that miraculous! My surgery not only improved my vision, but helped my husband’s vision as well.
