CustomVue Laser Vision Correction
with Waveprint Technology
A new, personalized approach to laser vision correction
at Missouri Eye Institute
No two eyes are the same. Like your fingerprint or DNA,
your vision is unique!

Until
now, your treatment was based on diagnostic technology
similar to that used for the prescription of eyeglasses
or contact lenses. However, with Missouri Eye Institute’s
addition of the WavePrint Map,we can produce a precise
and more detailed analysis of your vision and provide you
with a more personalized approach to laser vision correction.
With the diagnostic and treatment technologies of the
WavePrint System, Missouri Eye Institute can develop a
personalized laser vision correction plan that addresses
your individual needs.
There
are two parts to the Missouri Eye Institute’s
WavePrint System. First, it includes a diagnostic device
that maps the entire optical path of your eye. The WavePrint
Map, called the “fingerprint of your vision,” provides
the doctor with a precise and detailed analysis of your
vision.
Secondly, the WavePrint System includes the VISX
laser,
which has two exclusive features: Variable Spot Scanning
and 3D Active Trak technologies. Variable Spot Scanning
allows for a larger treatment area and offers the physicians
greater flexibility in developing a more personalized laser
vision procedure.
3d Active Trak automatically and instantaneously tracks
the tiny motions of your eye in all three dimensions during
your laser vision correction. This unique feature means
you no longer have to hold your eye perfectly still, but
can relax, knowing you are obtaining a correction precisely
centered on your eye. The doctor uses these exclusive technologies
along with the WavePrint Map to provide custom laser vision
correction care based on your personal vision needs.
Wavefront Technology a Revolutionary Advancement
This next generation of LASIK technology is truly the most
revolutionary advancement in vision correction since
the introduction of the laser. CustomVue with Waveprint
Technology treats your eyes uniquely through every stage
of the procedure, from the diagnostics and preoperative
testing to the actual surgery.
Using the most advanced Waveprint diagnostic equipment
and software, we will create maps of each of your eyes.
We can then synchronize personal information to our laser.
The result is a personalized treatment designed just for
you.
Many
patients will be able to see better than they could with
their glasses or contact lenses. That’s because
the maps we create take into account the exact physical
details of your eyes- from the smoothness and thickness
of your cornea to the size of your pupils and the distance
to your retina. We’re even able to detect the tiny
imperfections (we call them aberrations) that didn’t
even register on tests before this technology.
By
taking into account your entire visual spectrum, this
Custom Waveprint Technology helps us to get a more accurate
view of how light travels through your eye. Once we’ve
done the diagnostic work, we will have mapped literally
thousands of points over the surface of your cornea.
This
individual map is what makes CustomVue with Waveprint
Technology so powerful and so unique. You and your friend
may both have the same prescription, but because of this
new custom procedure, your treatments will not be the same – although
you will both end up with much better vision.
Benefits of CustomVue with Waveprint Technology are as
follows:
· You
are more likely to achieve 20/20 vision.
· You are more likely to achieve better than 20/20 vision.
· Your new unaided vision is more likely to be better than
what you previously experienced even with the aid of glasses
or contacts.
· You are less likely to have decreased night vision caused
by halos and glare.
What to Expect On the Day of Surgery
On
the day of your procedure, the specialists at Missouri
Eye Institute will create a map of your eyes. Each map
is then perfectly aligned with the surface of your corneas
to act as a guide for your custom treatment. The doctor
will make a small, painless incision to create a flap on
the surface of each of your eyes so that the laser can
concentrate on your cornea. You don’t have to worry
about keeping perfectly still. Our laser is equipped with
a radar eye tracker that can keep pace with your movements
at 40,000 times per second.

Once the incision is made and the map is in place, our
software-guided laser will reshape your cornea and smooth
away any surface imperfections before the doctor closes
the flap. You can blink now. You’re done. It’s
that quick!
