Cataracts Treatment and Laser Vision Correction with Premium Implantable Lenses
Missouri Eye Institute was one of the first vision correction centers in Springfield, Branson, Joplin and Southwest Missouri to utilize premium intraocular lens implants in the surgical treatment of cataracts. Intraocular lenses, or IOLs, are implantable devices that replace the natural lens in the human eye, typically after the natural lens has become diseased with a cataract. Today, an IOL can treat both a person’s cataracts and loss of vision.
As we perform daily activities such as reading, watching television or working at the computer, our eyes are constantly focusing on objects at varying distances – up close, far away and everything in-between. Between the ages of 40 and 50, we often notice that it becomes increasingly more difficult to refocus our eyes. Lens implants address this difficulty and can improve the full range of sight, as well as astigmatism. Cataract lens replacement options vary in material type and strength, as do glasses or contact lenses, and are selected to improve the eye’s focusing ability.
During consultation, a Missouri Eye Institute surgeon will thoroughly explain the appropriateness of using a premium lens implant and make you aware of risks, benefits and realistic expectations for your improved eyesight. Our premium lenses include:
